October

At what point should I give up trying to catch up? It seems like every time I post, I start off by apologizing for how far behind I am! Needless to say, much has happened since we got back from Washington at the end of September.Jonas learned to walk the week we got back. I think he got some incentive at daycare, because it's a lot harder to keep up with the other kids if you are crawling! My folks were gone for over a month after we got back from vacation, so we took him to a small in-home day care for a while. It took him a little while to get used to it, but he sure likes playing with the other kids.

Unfortunately his immune system took a little time getting used to it too. On Friday of the first week in day care, we had an appointment in Anchorage to get his giant head looked at. (Don't worry, it's fine, they just wanted to make sure it was growing normally) By the time we got there, though, he was struggling for breathe and virtually unresponsive! The doctor at the clinic plopped us in an ambulance and we ended up staying at the hospital for a couple of days. Very very scary to watch your child turning blue and fighting to breathe.

He was allowed to go home on Sunday, but he had to have nebulizer treatments for a few more days, and stay home from day care for the next week. Then the next week he ended up with a case of pinkeye! He recovered quickly though, and hasn't been sick much since then.

Halloween was fun. I made Jonas a tiny lederhosen costume, and he got a big kick out of the local carnival.

  1. Oh gosh, that is heartbreaking to hear that Jonas was that sick. Mommy and Daddy were probably pretty scared. Thank goodness he's doing better now. Daycare sucks!
Jonas' Halloween costume is hilarious! Cute, cute cute.
